How Netafim can contribute to Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan
I felt very honored to receive an invitation to speak at the annual Unilever Israel Managers Conference held on January 13th, 2013 in Kibbutz Ga’ash, Israel. As one of the world’s largest consumer goods company, Unilever strives to introduce sustainability practices throughout their global supply chain, taking responsibility not only for their direct operations, but also for their suppliers’ and distributors’ operations, and how consumers use their products. In November 2010, they established the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, a ten … Full article click here >>

Water and Food Security at World Water Week 2012 in Stockholm
I just came back from the World Water Week 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden. In this event members of the private and public sectors gathered to learn about the world’s water problems and discuss solutions that will help improve the water situation around the world. This year’s theme was “Water and Food Security”. 90% of the world’s water is in the hands of the private sector 70% of the world’s available water is used for agriculture, 20% for industrial purposes, and … Full article click here >>
Taking sustainability to the next level by reusing wastewater for irrigation
I always talk about how drip irrigation uses less water to grow more, but this is only one side of the story. Since agriculture uses 70% of the world’s available fresh water, in order to enhance sustainability even further, we need to not only use less water for irrigation, but reuse the water that was already used – irrigation with recycled wastewater. Challenges of wastewater recycling Wastewater has been recognized as being effective for irrigation. Of course it has to … Full article click here >>

Preaching what I practice
For years I have been telling stories about how Netafim was founded and how we have been practicing sustainability even before the environment was a global concern. I was recently invited to read a friend’s blog and realized that a blog could be a perfect vehicle to fulfill my role as Head of Sustainable Development and tell my stories about our interesting history. It is a fulfillment of Netafim’s mission to share its knowledge of sophisticated irrigation technologies for sustainable … Full article click here >>
It’s not our commitment, it’s our business
After more than 30 years at Netafim, I can say that becoming Head of Sustainable Development is certainly the most challenging and rewarding position I’ve ever had. The reason is mainly because it is the realization of our essence. Sustainability is not merely a corporate business commitment, it is our business. As Head of Sustainable Development I help bring all the knowledge and experience that we have accumulated for over four decades in order to help solve water scarcity and … Full article click here >>
From sustaining a small desert Kibbutz to global sustainability
Netafim was established in 1965 at our Kibbutz, Hatzerim. Looking back at those days, I could never have imagined that the decision to turn our drip irrigation invention into a business would have such an effect on the global agriculture market and today, global sustainability. We were a small group of young people and our economy was based mainly on farming, which, in the Negev desert was not an easy task. We faced a limited source of water, saline soil, … Full article click here >>
